ABOUT THE MEETING

The Southeast Region’s 48th Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) Program Coordinators’ Meeting will convene in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on March 18, 2019 and will run through March 22, 2019. These annual coordinators’ meetings are rotated within the Southeast Region among fish and wildlife agencies of the ten States and Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources will serve as the host agency for the meeting.

Coordinators’ meetings are considered to be an essential component of the administration of the WSFR Program. Accordingly, it is very important that WSFR Program Coordinators and fiscal staff responsible for administering WSFR Program grants attend this meeting. Other members of the States’ fish and wildlife agencies are welcome to attend at the discretion of the agencies. The meetings not only offer great training opportunities for personnel managing grants, but they also allow for a yearly, face-to-face exchange of ideas and information at the State level, as well as at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Regional and Washington Headquarters Office levels.

This year’s meeting will serve as an opportunity to share critical updates and reminders regarding the implementation of the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR 200), TRACS updates and workshops. In addition, special attention will be given to updates on the Lands Manual Chapter, Land Acquisition and Best Management Practices (BMP), Grant Processing, and discussions on Eligible Costs (nuisance/animal damage policy changes), Program Income as Match and Subrecipient vs. Contractors.

Participants will also have the opportunity to network with colleagues, starting on Monday, March 18, with a Welcome Social at the Venue (soon to be announced), and a tour and dinner (soon to be announced) on Wednesday, March 20, in addition to plenty of opportunities that will available throughout the meeting in the Networking Room located at the Venue (please see the meeting’s Program for details).
