The Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources and the University of Puerto Rico invite you to participate in our Puerto Rico Invasive Species Awareness (#PRISA) events!

 

Anthropomorphic activities have caused changes to ecosystems worldwide, which include an influx of non-native species that is hard to ignore.  To highlight the causes and consequences of biological invasions “Puerto Rico Invasive Species Awareness” (#PRISA) events will be held on April 25th and 26th, 2019, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Puerto Rico – Río Piedras Campus.

Information

The first #PRISA event (April 25th, 9AM–4PM) –our Open House– will focus on an outreach event with a plethora of information and demonstration tables on invasive species biology, prevention and management hosted by research laboratories, local and federal government agencies and non-government organizations.

 

The second #PRISA event (April 26th, 9AM–4PM) –our Symposium– will feature short talks on research and management issues including a plenary session (9AM–3PM), as well as three Plenary Presentations that will be offered by world-renowned scientists. At the end of the day, we will have poster presentations, which will be accompanied by a few culinary surprises (3-4PM).
